More Moonbites

My name is Rosemary Moon. Hello!

I’m a food writer: I’ve written 18 cookbooks and edited loads more. I have been writing about local food here in Chichester, on England’s south coast via Moonbites for over 5 years. Now it’s time to update and get fresh with the website in the same way that we need to get fresh with our food!

Fresh and local, from field to plate with as few miles and profit margins being added as possible. Food that everyone can enjoy. We need to campaign for local food to be available to local people. We need to eat with the seasons, to understand our ingredients and to be empowered to spend wisely and creatively, to grow and forage for our own food, and to support the commercial growers locally who want to grow for us.

I hope that you enjoy my recipes. Some are new and some are old favourites. When you eat with the seasons your food choices are always changing, bringing freshness to every dish that you prepare in your home. It’s exciting, a perpetual adventure and it’s deliciously rewarding.

Sometimes I cook with friends and sometimes other people join in too. All of it is fun!

Eat the view, and eat well!

Alresford Watercress Festival

I am really delighted to be demonstrating at this year’s festival on Sunday, 19th May at 10.30am. I am a great fan of watercress and love my local produce from Hairspring at Hambrook. Come along to Alresford and say Hello!

The extraordinary culture of food

Coming up is one of the most exciting events that I have been involved in for a very long time: a day of short talks on the huge and diverse subject of food! Food is the basis of culture around the world: how we grow, shop, share meals and communicate our heritage through food. Seven excellent speakers, all with great stories to tell about family dairy farms, peasant food, growing for inspiration and not for eating, communities united through food and making your food hobby into a business Read more and book online here. This is a great day for professional development and for foodie gastronomes.
